Wood fibre insulation
As basic layer for the loam walls, we have chosen for wood fibre insulation (with an average thickness of 6 cm). Together with loam this is a perfect combination to get it nice and warm in the house in the winter and, in the summer to keep the cold in.

For the roof of the house we have also chosen for wood fibre insulation (10 cm thick)

Why wood fibre insulation?
Wood fibre insulation is just like loam an wonderfully ecologically sound product. For producing wood fibre, little energy is needed, local building materials are used, wood fibre insulation is a durable product, the environmental burden of the product is minimal and wood fibre insulation has a high insulation value. Besides that, the wood fibre insulation together with the loam keeps the warmth in resulting in less heating energy and the warmth doesn't leave the house so easily.

Wood fibre insulation in the bathroom Wood fibre is also a damp open product, there is no mould arising. The moist is absorbed when the room is somewhat humid and when the room is dryer (and when aired) the wood fibre insulation releases the moist. Therefore wood fibre insulation can also be used in humid rooms like the bathroom. In humid rooms, however, it is important that there is good ventilation.

Last but not least, with processing or demolishing of (rests of) wood fibre insulation no carcinogenic material comes out. You can compare it with the processing and demolition of wood.
